The Doctor-Pastor Relationship

Seeks help spiritually

If the patient ever transitions to the spiritual phase, it is almost always after many visits that have built trust in the doctor as healer and counseler. The pastor can then be added to this relationship on the credibility of the physician. The pastor and patient can then begin their own friendship.

Accepts help spiritually

The pastor's prescription involves things such as Bible study, prayer, and church fellowship. The patient begins to understand not only doctrines but the personal nature of sin and the love of God for her. As the patient cooperates she begins to recover.

Recovers spiritually

Forgiveness, freedom from guilt, eternal friendship with God, meaningful church fellowship, and understanding truth are some of the experiences of the spiritually recovering patient. As the spiritual is greater than the physical, so is the reward of seeing a happy, new member in the kingdom of heaven greater than the reward of seeing physical healing!
